Salvete! Mihi nomen est Magistra Carlton. I am super excited to return to Austin High this year for another awesome year of Latin. This is my second year at Austin High and my 5 year teaching over all. Before making Austin High my new home, I taught at Bryan High School in Bryan/College Station, but AM NOT AN AGGIE.
I am a born and raised Austinite, a rarity these days, I know. I took Latin with Ms. Laake in middle school and went to the LBJ Science Academy, before it became LASA. There I studied Latin all four years under Mr. Browne, who still teaches there. After high school I completed undergrad in 2007 at Austin College with a double major in Classics (Latin and Ancient Greek) and Anthropology. During my time at AC I was lucky enough to go on a summer long archaeology dig in Pompeii, Italy, and hope to use this experience to enrich my students experiences in the classroom.
In addition to my life long love of Latin and the ancient world, I also grew up playing soccer and eventually played on the Lady 'Roos soccer team at Austin College. This year, I am excited to announce that I will be adding coaching girls soccer to my list of duties!
This school year I will be teaching at both Austin High School and at O. Henry Middle School.
The best way to reach me is through email.
